Join artist and designer Mia Wanaka Brimilcombe for a hands-on workshop making your own personalised zero-waste leather clutch or book bag from repurposed leather and other upcycled materials.
No experience needed. All materials and tools provided.
In Mia’s words:
“The aim of the workshop is to explore how we can use materials that we already have, to make meaningful pieces that extend the materials’ life cycle.”
“Leather is often misrepresented in the conversations around sustainability. It is one of the few materials that stands the test of time, both in its durability and its timelessness through the ever changing trends in fashion. When upcycled and repurposed, it is much less destructive to the planet than new polyurethane and short-life alternatives.”
The workshop runs alongside SEMI-PERMANENCE, Mia’s exhibition at Studio SHY for Artwave, 5 to 20 September.
2.5 hours. Places are limited.
